Aren't they cool!? One of my favorite things about this shrub/tree is that it looks like a pussy willow, but it's actually a Magnolia stellata 'Royal Star'. So, come spring I'll have gorgeous fragrant white blooms (hopefully). I had to look up some scientific information about the buds, as I was curious if other plants/shrubs could be lumped into the "pussy willow" category because of them. I found they are separately classified, but the buds the pussy willows are called "catkins." Neato! Thanks for helping me create a new wrinkle in my brain!
Sarah Brackney is R&S Garden. A gardening fiend. She is no expert, she just gardens. Her gardens are her art.
And yes, she has weeds in her garden; she just chooses not to show them to you.
Thanks for visiting.
Love the pussy willows! Wish I had some!
