I found this Weekly Photo Challenge on Ronnie's blog and thought it would be a fun opportunity to look back on my year in the garden (mostly).
Jan/Feb - Workerman and I spent the first few months of 2012 gardenless, so I filled in those spots with the cutest living things in our lives. Our dogs. As childless adults, we get a lot of flack from our families about Binky and Nibbler. To us, they are our children. We've been obsessed with these furry mutts since the day we got them. No apologies.
March - House hunting. This was one of the houses we thought was "the one." We're so glad it wasn't. Too small.
April - Another house we loved but were outbid on. Must have been fate. Looking back, we would have overextend ourselves on the payments... and there was hardly any yard!
May - Our birthday month and the month we found the perfect little house! My garden obsession began this month. I found this Jackmanii tangled among the volunteer trees and Creeping Virginia on the south side of our house.
June - Move in month and my first planting.
July - The work begins... 70+ feet of digging, turning, scraping, heaving and swearing.
August - Enjoying my new collections and appreciating all the hard work that goes into making our outdoor space beautiful.
September - A new season begins. My second planter planting was awesome and my excitement about buying bulbs couldn't be contained. What you see below was just the first round... Can't wait to see what actually comes up this spring :)
October - Not much happening in Sarah's Garden World. My focus shifted to indoor plants this month.
November - November 1st I planted three pots of Paperwhites. They bloomed in time for Thanksgiving and they were gorgeous. I gave one to Workerman's mother and kept the other two for myself. Next year I'll fill the pots with even more bulbs. Their scent is intoxicating... sometimes too much. Nothing is more lovely than waking up to smell flowers as soon as your conscious nose sniffs the air.
December - Amaryllis. I think it cost $5. It is now blooming again after producing 4 ginormous and brilliant red blossoms. I'll put it outside this summer.
Well, I think that's it for today. I hope you had a lovely and safe New Year's Eve. I'm still thinking about my Garden Resolutions/Goals, but I'll keep you posted.

Congrats on your new house! We have moved several times and while moving is a pain, I always enjoy starting from scratch with a new garden. Sounds like you are off to a great start with your garden. Enjoy making your plans for next year!
